Graphic
design is the primary means of converting your message into
a deliverable form. Whether its as simple as a business card
or as complicated as a full-color catalog with fold-out pages,
your company's first impressions are often generated by its
graphical materials.
Design
should be a slave to marketing, not the other way around.
Too often, a company will hire a graphic designer who will
make the most beautiful marketing collateral materials possible
but who has no sense of marketing. My fellow designers will
be the last to admit that they don't know the first thing
about marketing, but they will be the first to tell you that
a full-color, die-cut brochure is the best way to reach your
audience.
To
me, cost is an object. Even if your budget allows for
all the extras, I'd rather find away to do more with your
money than print the most expensive letterhead known to mankind!
Design has its place and role in marketing.
